6 Spring Fashion Finds for Ethical Consumers

We’re wrapping up summer down here in the Southern Hemisphere and looking forward to a cool fall, but we realize most of you are anxiously awaiting the warmer temps of spring up in the Northern Hemisphere. As we transition seasons we’re always looking for new additions to our wardrobes to put a little pep in our step, and as ethical consumers we’re passionate about finding ways to step softly on Mother Earth, while making sure producers are treated with dignity and respect. Here we have six of our favorite ethical finds that will be sure to make spring even more exciting.

1.Organic, vegan and fair trade t-shirts on your stock-up list? Head over to BrownBoy for an incredible selection of well made, quality t-shirts that will see you through spring and beyond! Not only are they committed to great clothes and the environment, they also show an admirable committed to their employees. Working for BrownBoy means you receive a living wage, social security and pension funding, free transport to work, paid leave, medical insurance and subsidized lunches. And perhaps best of all? All employees’ children receive free schooling. That’s a company we can get behind.

2.Heading back to the gym after taking the winter off? It might just be time to refresh your gym look, then! Stock up on Teeki, an athleisure brand made from recycled water bottles! With all the quality you’ve come to expect from athleisure lines and none of the carbon-consuming, polluting guilt this is sure to be a new favorite for ethical consumers. Stock up for yoga, surfing, hiking or just hitting the gym for a sweaty workout session. Their fun prints will make sure you’re actually looking forward to putting on your exercise clothes.

3.What’s super unique and super green all in one? Buying second hand! You’re saving clothing from the landfill, repurposing existing clothing and preventing more carbon emissions from new production. Plus, you’re saving money and will sure to be one of the only people on the block rocking that look! We love charity stores and local thrift stores, but are also big fans of ThredUp, the online secondhand mecca. You can also order a “clean-out kit” for yourself, effectively trading your old clothes for new clothes and continuing the green cycle for someone else! That’s what we call a win.

4.Heading to the sea this spring? Stop by and visit the online shop of La Paz, an ethical menswear line inspired by the Atlantic ocean. Nautical looks for jerseys, hats, knits, jackets and bottoms! The icing on the cake? All their products are sustainably and ethically made in Porto, Portugal under respectful conditions for all workers. We’re huge fans of this durable, high quality line that will be a classic staple in your wardrobe for years to come.

They’re always seeking ways to make sure the shoes on your feet are ethical, from organic cotton to fair wages for workers to actively reducing carbon emission and energy use in everything from transport of their product to their headquarters in France.
